    Romanian Aviation Day: Bucharest – July 19, 2026, Air Heroes Monument

    Bucharest marks Romanian Aviation Day and Romanian Air Force Day with a military and religious ceremony held at the Air Heroes Monument in Piața Aviatorilor.

    The event takes place on Sunday, July 19, 2026, starting at 10:00, one day before the official celebration of Romanian Aviation Day on July 20.

    Military Ceremony and Aircraft Flyover in Piața Aviatorilor

    The ceremony will commemorate Romania’s aviation heroes through a religious service and the laying of wreaths at the Air Heroes Monument.

    During the event, military aircraft and helicopters operated by Romanian and allied institutions will fly over Piața Aviatorilor.

    The Romanian Air Force will participate with:

    • F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter aircraft
    • C-130 Hercules transport aircraft
    • C-27J Spartan transport aircraft
    • AN-30 aircraft
    • IAR-330 helicopters

    The programme will also feature EC-135 SMURD helicopters, S-70M Black Hawk helicopters and a Learjet 75 operated by the Romanian Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with SA-365 Dauphin helicopters belonging to the Romanian Intelligence Service.

    Extra 300 aircraft from the Romanian Aeroclub will also participate in the flyover.

    International participation includes Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft operated by the Italian Air Force and the United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force.

    Romanian Air Force Educational Presentation on July 18

    Another event dedicated to Romanian Aviation Day will be organised on Saturday, July 18, between 10:00 and 18:00, at the National Military Circle Palace in central Bucharest.

    Representatives of the Romanian Air Force will present their educational programmes and information about careers in military aviation

    Romanian Aviation Day and Romanian Air Force Day are officially celebrated every year on July 20, the feast day of Saint Elijah, traditionally regarded as the spiritual protector of aviators. The ceremony in Piața Aviatorilor remains one of Bucharest’s principal public commemorations dedicated to the history of Romanian aviation and those who lost their lives while serving in the air.
