Bucharest Marathon 2026 takes place on October 10–11, bringing a weekend of road races to Romania’s capital. The programme includes the 42.195 km marathon, a four-person relay, a half marathon, a 10K race and a 2.5K Fun Race.
The 10K and Fun Race take place on Saturday, October 10. The marathon, half marathon and relay start on Sunday, October 11, at 09:00. Constitution Square (Piața Constituției), beside the Palace of Parliament, hosts Sport Expo and race-kit collection.
Bucharest Marathon 42K Race

Distance: 42.195 km
Time limit: 6 hours
Start: Bulevardul Libertății, alongside Izvor Park
Finish: Constitution Square (Piața Constituției)
The marathon follows a fully paved course with kilometre markers. Electronic timing records runners’ progress at checkpoints along the route.
Runners must finish within six hours of the official start to appear in the standings. Roads reopen after the cut-off, and the course is no longer secured for participants.
Bucharest Marathon Four-Person Relay

Finish: Constitution Square
The relay divides the marathon course between four team members. Each runner completes one leg, following the order recorded during registration.
Team members should check their individual changeover locations before race day. Only the first runner starts at the main starting point.
Half Marathon at Bucharest Marathon 2026

Distance: Approximately 21.1 km
Time limit: 3 hours
Start: Bulevardul Libertății, alongside Izvor Park
Finish: Constitution Square
The half marathon is part of the October Bucharest Marathon programme. It is a separate race from the OMV Petrom Bucharest Half Marathon event held in May.
Participants have three hours from the official start to finish. Runners arriving after the time limit are not included in the official standings.
Bucharest Marathon 10K Race

Wheelchair race start: 08:45
Distance: 10 km
Time limit: 90 minutes
Start: Bulevardul Libertății, alongside Izvor Park
Finish: Constitution Square
The 10K is a timed race on a paved course with kilometre markers. Participants must enter the starting sector assigned to their race number.
Hydration points are provided around the five-kilometre mark and at the finish.
Bucharest Marathon 2.5K Fun Race

Start time: 12:00
Wheelchair race start: 11:45
Distance: 2.5 km
Time limit: 60 minutes
The Fun Race is the shortest race in the programme and is not electronically timed.

Race kits are collected from Constitution Square, according to the following schedule:
Thursday, October 8: 16:00–20:00
Collection for the marathon, relay, half marathon, 10K and Fun Race.
Friday, October 9: 16:00–20:00
Collection for all five races.
Saturday, October 10
- 07:30–08:30: 10K race kits.
- 09:30–11:30: Fun Race kits.
- 13:00–17:00: Marathon, half marathon and relay kits.
Sunday, October 11: 07:30–08:30
Marathon, half marathon and relay kits for runners travelling from outside Bucharest. Race-day collection requires proof of arrival in Bucharest that day.
