A strong storm with electrical discharges broke out in Bucharest on August 23. The flashes of lightning gave a real show in the black background of the night, and the wind was blowing strongly. As impressive as this event was, the consequences severe.
According to Romania Journal, firefighters intervened in the case of several trees and poles that fell on cars or streets due to the storm and rainfall. Otopeni Airport experienced issues as a result of the storm. Flights to Dublin, Madrid, Valencia, and Cluj-Napoca experienced delays.

The storm was also felt in other regions of the country. The hurricane also wreaked havoc in Brasov. In the city’s heart, the powerful wind swept up umbrellas and knocked over tables, billboards, and flower pots. A tree fell on a car, and another struck the hospital fence.
In addition, a Ro-Alert message was sent out, informing Bucharest residents that the city is also under a code orange warning for a severe storm: „Avoid travel and seek shelter and self-protection measures.” However, the message was received after an hour after the storm striked Bucharest.
