Dambovita Delivery 2025: September 20-21, Bucharest

For the first time, the acclaimed Dâmbovița Delivery festival arrives at the Romanian National Opera, a key location along Bucharest’s metropolitan river and a symbolic area for the city. Over two days, from September 20 to 21, 2025, Dâmbovița transforms into a vibrant stage, laboratory, and meeting space, uniting communities, institutions, and diverse initiatives under a shared purpose: to reactivate the river as the city’s vital green-blue infrastructure.

Admission is free, making it accessible to all. The full program of activities is available on the official event website and social media channels.

Dâmbovița Delivery blends science and art in service of the river and its community. The Cotroceni neighbourhood, which developed alongside the river, is often overlooked as a forgotten neighbour. Here, close to the Romanian Opera pier, some of Bucharest’s most important research, education, and cultural institutions collaborate with civic organisations like Incotroceni – Oameni, Idei, and Povești. Together, they hold tremendous potential to rethink and transform the city’s relationship with water.

In September, the banks near the Opera (near Eroilor metro station) become a shared space where universities, NGOs, civic groups, and artists present outdoor movement activities, informal education workshops, debates, performances, and interactive experiments—ranging from participatory science to poetry, music, and visual arts. Through these activations, Dâmbovița inspires health, creativity, and climate resilience for the city and its communities.

Key highlights of the Dâmbovița Delivery – Opera Română 2025

    • Engaging debates on the city’s future covering science, environment, architecture, and culture with experts and public figures.
    • The international ideas competition “Dâmbovița 2035” invites professionals to envision a green, accessible, and connected river.
    • “Nod X” dialogues gathering prominent environmental, media, cultural, and educational organisations, celebrating urban impact over the past decade.
    • Water and riverbank activities such as boat rides with Rowmania, stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, and water projections launching from the Opera pier.
    • A team rowing competition on September 20 was organised by the Ivan Patzaichin Association and Vastint Romania as part of the Descoperă Rowmania national campaign.
    • Along the pedestrian Independenței Embankment, expect microscopy explorations, scientific demonstrations, poetry, music, participatory art, guided tours of Cotroceni, and workshops focusing on food waste reduction.
    • Continuous exhibitions and documentary art interventions exploring Dâmbovița’s floodplain flora history, Bucharest’s quiet spaces, interactive installations, and living community archives.
    • The Department of Sustainable Development pavilion offers visitor engagement and sustainability-themed contests.
    • The premiere of “Sirene pe Dâmbovița,” an innovative water-based theatre production by IOTA company, co-produced by ARCUB, blends music, theatre, and video mapping on the river.

Dâmbovița Delivery at the Romanian Opera is part of the larger Dâmbovița Apă Dulce (Sweet Water) program, a collective urban and ecological regeneration initiative led by the Ivan Patzaichin Association, Mila 23, and Nod Makerspace. The program envisions the river as Bucharest’s green-blue backbone, integrating water access, river health monitoring, community activities, and advocacy.

This initiative brings the river to life as a place for meeting, reflection, movement, and collective creation, advancing a long-term vision for a cleaner, more breathable, and better-connected Bucharest.

Dâmbovița Delivery at Opera Română takes place on September 20–21, 2025, at the Romanian Opera Pier. Entry is free. Visit the event website for complete schedules and activity maps.
