Are you passionate about theatre and anything that has to do with arts related to and emerging from it? If yes, this is a perfect occasion to experience a taste of a unique mixture of abstract, biographical, scenographic, and drawing arts.
The Helmut Strümer exhibition will take place between 7 to 29 November 2022, and is part of the 32nd edition of this year’s National Romanian Theatre Festival program (NTF). The Bucharest City Hall organizes the event through the co-organizer, ARCUB, the Cultural Centre Association of Bucharest.
Strümer is one of the most renowned Romanian stage, opera, and film scenographers and costume and lighting designers. The Decor/Costume/Drawing exhibition conveys a reconstruction of the artist’s professional history and journey. As such, and additionally, to a number of works from the artist’s collection, the show features more than 50 works by Helmut Stürmer, including performance models, scenographic objects and sets, show collectibles, pictures, albums, and original sketches.
”The exhibition follows, especially, the path of creating an opera or theatre decor from the first idea, the first sketch, to the model and to the finished decor on stage. In parallel, the path of creating a costume is shown, from drawing to concrete realization to the final image of the character on stage.”

This exhibition is a perfect occasion for the public to discover a lesser-known side of Helmut Stürmer’s creation, a deeper understanding of his creative mind, and last but not least, indulge once more in the deeply rooted artistic spirit of the Romanian culture.
The exhibition will take place at ARCUB Gabroveni Inn, in the Library, Coffee Shop, and the Arches auditoriums. For more details regarding the background of the artist and the description of his exhibition, on dates, timing, and ticket acquisition and pricing, check out the official page of ARCUB.
