Grand Hotel Continental

Among the emblematic buildings in Bucharest, the Hotel Continental is one of the most luxurious hotels in Bucharest. You will be able to admire it on the tour on Calea Victoriei and you will certainly not miss it.

The hotel was opened at the end of the 19th century and, from the very beginning, it was desired that luxury was the word to define it. All the furniture in the hotel consists of original pieces bought at auctions and belonged to palaces from all over the world. Each room is decorated differently, which makes your stay here as nice as possible.

We like to admire its exterior as much as we admire its interior. And since we've been talking about the outside, move your attention to the balcony on the 1st floor. It's a balcony with history!

King Mihai of Romania was accommodated at this hotel when he returned to the country after the 1989 Revolution. He went out, together with his nephew, Prince Nicolae, to the balcony of the room on the 1st floor. He waved to the crowd gathered on Calea Victoriei. It is said that on that day over a million people came to wish him "Welcome home, King!". Even today, when we talk about this event, we can't help but admit that we seem to feel the emotion that then encompassed this area of the city.

We are neither kings nor queens, but if you have not managed to stay here, we recommend you to make a reservation for dinner. Dressed as a king, you will have the opportunity to eat with silver cutlery from the finest porcelain plates. Live music played on the piano will complete the charm of the evening. Just enjoy it!
