Lacrimi și Sfinți

Lacrimi și Sfinți is not your typical Romanian restaurant. It’s a bold, poetic culinary project founded by writer and gastronome Mircea Dinescu, where century-old recipes are reinvented with contemporary flair. Think of it as a revival of lost Romanian flavors, prepared only with local, organic ingredients—wild-caught fish, free-range poultry, and small-farm meats—all crafted into dishes that bridge tradition and innovation.

More than a restaurant, Lacrimi și Sfinți is a living museum of taste and memory. Every detail of the space tells a story: beams from old barns, doors from abandoned homes, windows from forgotten villages. Even the floorboards have been reclaimed, while every ceramic plate is handmade by Romanian artisans from Vâlcea, Harghita, and Sighișoara. Add in a touch of whimsy—like 16,000 LEGO bricks from the Copenhagen LEGO Store—and you have a truly unique space full of history and heart.

Located in Bucharest’s Old Town, in a historical house once owned by the Zambaccian family, the building has hosted legendary artists like Theodor Aman and Ștefan Luchian. Today, it welcomes curious food lovers who value sustainability, creativity, and culinary heritage.

At Lacrimi și Sfinți, the past is not forgotten—it’s served, savored, and celebrated.
