Red Bull Flugtag Bucharest 2023 starts in Romania’s Capital on Sunday, September 17. The event takes place near Morii Lake – Lacul Morii and the participants will fly (actually dive into the lake) their handmade flying devices (or whatever their creators call them).
Planes? No way! Cars? Not entirely, as they lack the engines. Basically, the ones who want to force their luck and beat the other competitors are free to come and do that. The entrance is free for all spectators.
Nine years ago, the Chicken Whisperers Team broke the Red Bull Flugtag world record when they flew over 78 meters.
Even so, most participants dive straight into the water for their and the attendants’ entertainment.
You can participate with your own aircraft, which you make with your team. All you have to do is gather three or four other brave and resourceful members like you, put your engineering spirit to work and build with your own hands an aircraft that would make even Aurel Vlaicu jealous.
This year, 40 teams are expected to take off at the Red Bull Flugtag Bucharest. And the team that makes the longest flight wins. So if you already have friends you want to participate in, tell them about the competition. Then put together your knowledge of physics and mathematics (or what’s left of it), sketch the flying car on paper (you must understand it; even Da Vinci didn’t illustrate it better), do all the necessary calculations and pass it to work – build the flying machine that will carry you to the highest heights. All you have to do is make sure that, in reality, everything will work flawlessly, just like on paper.
No matter what the flight looks like, you will be cheered on the open stage by a large audience who will stand with you and appreciate the team’s effort, courage and creativity.
On Saturday, September 16, the day before the big event, people can see the museum of flying machines, take pictures and videos, and present them on their social media accounts.
