February 25 – March 1 2022
The National Museum of the Romanian Peasant
Mărțișor Fair event is organized at the National Museum of Romanian Peasant in Bucharest, and it takes place between February 25 and March 1, 2022. It has prepared many surprises for those who want to celebrate Spring in Romanian style.
We still wear the mask, and we respect the norms of physical distance, and, thus, we will be able to celebrate, this time too, the beginning of spring at the Mărțișor Fair event. In the last 16 years, our event has represented a cultural reference for the general public from Bucharest and beyond. And we are still very proud of the Mărțișor Fair, even in times of pandemic!
The Mărțișor Fair promotes and recontextualizes the celebration of a custom that in the last century has received a series of transformations, predominantly in the urban space. The fair brings to the public’s attention a rich offer through the uniqueness, creativity and diversity of the traditional mărțișor and its encouraging artistic ingenuity and craftsmanship.
Who’s invited?
With a number of only 150 participants, due to the pandemic situation, the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant organized the Mărțișor Fair this year, as well, under restricted conditions, respecting the restrictions imposed by the authorities.
The invited participants (students, artists, craftsmen) use the world and peasant mythology as inspiration or imagine new forms of urban creativity: from the manufactured and recycled object that uses natural materials to become classics to the imprint of contemporary design, comics or characters and signs from urban mythology, imagined on a multitude of unconventional subjects.
Help a humanitarian cause and enjoy homemade sweets
Along with them, as every year, there are schools, foundations, associations, organizations that carry out humanitarian actions for children and support for disadvantaged groups. We will also meet the most diligent housekeepers and taste the best homemade dishes, gingerbread, cakes, jams, pickles, dehydrated fruits and herbal teas.
Mărțișor Fair event is waiting for you, as every year, to make mărțișoare in white and red cords for five days, from Friday, February 25, until Tuesday, March 1, 2022, between 10.00 and 18.00!
