Romanians just celebrated Heroes Day, a commemoration to honor and remember known and unknown heroes fallen in battles throughout history, for the nation’s freedom, and for the country’s defence and reunification.
In Bucharest, the celebration of this day takes place in the city’s heart. Among other commemorative manifestations, Romanian soldiers dressed in ceremonial uniforms executed a spectacular flaming torch march at night while singing patriotic songs. In advance, they lit a torch from the eternal flame burning at the tomb of Nation’s Heroes Memorial.
Symbolically, the soldiers’ torches of the Military Brigade 30 Guard „Mihai Viteazul” were lit by veterans wounded in the theatres of operations, from the Invictus Romania team, accompanied by military students.
The military torch-lit march was held on the route National Military Circle, Calea Victoriei (Victory Avenue) – Bulevardul Eroilor (Heroes Boulevard) – Cotroceni Palace and Military Brigade 30 Guard ”Mihai Viteazul” headquarters, where people gathered to admire the spectacular event.
