Bucharest’s spring calendar gets a colourful family-friendly addition this weekend, as CIREȘAR – Festival Urban takes place in the garden of the Grigore Antipa National Museum of Natural History on 16–17 May 2026, between 10:00 and 20:00.
In Romanian, „cireșe” means “cherries”, and „Cireșar” is the traditional name for June, the month associated with ripe cherries and the beginning of summer.
Hosted in one of the city’s most elegant central areas, near Piața Victoriei and Kiseleff Boulevard, the event brings together seasonal food, local products, children’s activities, music, dance moments and a cherry-themed atmosphere designed for a relaxed outdoor weekend in Bucharest.
CIREȘAR Festival Urban at Antipa Museum
CIREȘAR is hosted in the garden of the Grigore Antipa National Museum of Natural History, one of Bucharest’s best-known cultural landmarks. The festival takes its inspiration from the arrival of cherry season and the early-summer feeling that comes with it.
For visitors, this is not a large concert-style festival, but a lighter urban event built around food, families, local makers and a pleasant outdoor setting. The garden of the Antipa Museum provides the festival with a central yet relaxed location, easy to reach and to include in a wider day out in Bucharest.
What to expect at CIREȘAR

CIREȘAR adds a warm seasonal note to Bucharest’s mid-May agenda. It brings together the simplicity of a spring market, the charm of a museum garden, and enough activities to appeal to both adults and children.
For visitors looking for a relaxed outdoor event in Bucharest, the festival offers exactly that: food, colour, local products, family activities and a central location that is easy to reach.
The festival programme includes a market with local products, seasonal food and cherry-inspired treats. Visitors can expect pies with cherries, cherry ice cream, cherry-flavoured cotton candy, coffee with cherry syrup and, naturally, fresh cherries.
The market area also includes local products such as jewellery, accessories, clothing and natural cosmetics, making the event suitable for both families and visitors who enjoy browsing small urban fairs in Bucharest.
Children are among the festival’s main audiences. The event includes workshops and activities such as painting, archery, colourful braids, face painting and pottery, along with a cherry-themed photo corner for family pictures. Dance flash mobs and music moments add to the informal weekend atmosphere.
A family-friendly event in central Bucharest

CIREȘAR works well as a simple weekend plan for families, couples or visitors who want to spend a few hours outdoors without leaving central Bucharest. The location is also practical for tourists, as Antipa Museum is close to Piața Victoriei, Kiseleff Boulevard and several important Bucharest museums.
The event can easily be combined with a visit to Antipa Museum, a walk along Kiseleff Boulevard or a stop in the nearby museum area. For travellers staying in central Bucharest, this is one of the easiest seasonal events to reach during the weekend.
