The National Library of Romania becomes, until June, the realm of digital visual art, hosting two fascinating immersive exhibitions: „Being Van Gogh” and „From Monet to Kandinsky. A Revolutionary Art”.
After a world tour with millions of spectators, these two exhibitions also arrive in Bucharest, offering the Romanian public a unique multimedia experience, both visually through the projections specially tailored to the unique architecture of the Symposium hall in the premises of Romania’s National Library, as well as through the voice of the Romanian actor Marius Manole, as Van Gogh. The two exhibitions are enhanced with an artistic project in which artificial intelligence and the art of modernist painters exhibit, for the first time, significant images for the Romanian public interpreted in the style of painters Vincent Van Gogh, Edvard Munch, Claude Monet or Wassily Kandinsky.
The two exhibitions will alternate weekly until June 16, 2024, in the Symposium room on the premises of the National Library.

The two exhibitions can be visited for the first time by buying a single ticket on the More.com platform.
Impressive technical details complete the captivating atmosphere of the „Being Van Gogh” exhibition. Projections on giant screens, accompanied by a unique soundtrack, transform visitors into direct witnesses of Van Gogh’s genius. Virtual reality elements bring the paintings into the present, allowing admirers to explore the textures and details of each painting in a new way.
Watched by millions of visitors around the world, this show has been presented in the United States of America, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Germany, Switzerland, Chile, Belgium, Baltic countries, the Russian Federation, etc. The exhibition takes place on a total area of 800 square meters, and its diffusion is done using over 2,000 square meters of optical fiber. It is the only Van Gogh exhibition that uses an on-screen actor to narrate the artist’s life in his paintings.
From Monet to Kandinsky. A Revolutionary Art
„From Monet to Kandinsky. A Revolutionary Art” presents the most important artistic movements of the late 19th and early 20th centuries: Impressionism, Pointillism, Post-Impressionism, Cubism and Expressionism. The rapid development of art is illustrated by the works of eight outstanding masters of modernism in a unique combination of HD projections, animated graphics and music. Claude Monet, Paul Gauguin, Edvard Munch, Paul Cézanne, Juan Gris, Robert Delaunay, Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky – all shared an invincible desire to take art to the next level, to find new suggestive and visual forms that capture extraordinary upheavals of their time.
Another impressive common point of the exhibitions „Being Van Gogh” and „From Monet to Kandinsky. A Revolutionary Art” from the National Library of Bucharest is the „Infinite Room”. Integrating modern technology into an innovative space offers the captivating experience of infinite space, exploring the links between traditional and contemporary art generated by artificial intelligence tools, where current images of Romania are „painted” by the brush of Vincent van Gogh or Claude Monet.
