Bucharest International Dance Film Festival 18th Edition

At the Bucharest International Dance Film Festival 2022, the winner will be decided between 26 short films competing in national and international competitions (BIDFF).

Five cinematic works by directors and choreographers with various backgrounds are included in the Romanian short film competition: „Dancen” (directed by Corina Andrian), „I had been sleepwalking when I saw all those colors” (directed by Bogdan Balla), „You who never arrived” (directed by Marius Olteanu), „Pieta” (directed and choreographed by Oana Maria Moczulski), and „It’s a clown’s life” (dir. Ioachim Stroe).

The Romanian competition will be presented between 21:00 and 22:30 on September 9 at Fabrica Grivita in Bucharest. Access for spectators is free.

The International Competition has 21 titles, structured in four thematic sections, which capture the human presence and its appearances subsumed into a universe of (un)safe zones, where reality and the imaginary intertwine. Directors and choreographers from 25 countries present diverse, provocative or poetic documentaries, animations, performative experiments, and juxtapositions of form, light, colour and movement to the public.

The jury for this year’s competition is made up of actress and human rights activist Katia Pascariu, playwright and director Monica Stan (RO), and Omari „Motion” Carter, a dance filmmaker from the UK (RO).

BIDFF awards prize worth 1,500 euros for the best international film and the best Romanian film, and it promotes artistic debate that is fearless, innovative, and of the highest calibre.

The exhibition will take place on September 8 and remain open to the public on September 9, 10 and 11, between 14:00 and 21:00. Access is by ticket, with a prior appointment.
