Where? The National Museum of the Romanian Peasant
Martisor: White and red silk cord, wool and cotton, newsprint, seeds, felt, ceramics, ornaments, clay, clock wheels, metal, computer keys, synthetic resin, glass, enamel, silver, wood, stone and flowers, etamin, beads, fimo paste, lace and so many techniques and styles make Martisor Fair, as always, an unmissable story.
Martisor Fair celebrates, again this year, the beginning of spring at the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant. Martisor Fair (Târgul Mărțișorului) has, over time, represented a cultural reference for the general public from Bucharest and beyond.
The event promotes and recontextualizes the celebration of a custom that has received a series of transformations in the last century, predominantly in the urban space. Encouraging artistic creativity and craft able to be renewed with particularities intended to communicate through expressiveness, imagination and sense of humour the older or newer meanings of the custom, the fair brings to the attention of the public a rich offer through the uniqueness, creativity and diversity of martișoara.

The invited participants — students, artists, young people from the creative area, designers, architects, craftsmen — use the peasant world and mythology as a source of inspiration or imagine new forms of urban creativity: from the manufactured and recycled object that uses natural materials that have become classic to the imprint of a contemporary design, the comic strip or characters and signs from urban mythology, imagined on a multitude of unconventional materials.
Along with the invited participants to the fair, there are, as every year, schools, foundations, associations, organizations that carry out humanitarian actions for children and support for disadvantaged categories.
Having become a traditional accessory of the Mărțișorului Fair, the gastronomic offer comes with products that are closer to the concept of natural cuisine, even if the area represented is rural or urban: teas and medicinal plants from Dâmbovița. gingerbread, homemade cookies, cozonaci and other pastries, honey, jams from Bucovina, Alexandria, Baia Mare, Odorheiu Secuiesc, Buzău, Ilfov.
You can also meet the most industrious homesteaders and taste the best homemade dishes, gingerbread, cakes, jams, curries and medicinal teas.
