Taste of Transylvania Festval arrives in Bucharest for the first time from 16 to 18 October 2026, bringing Transylvanian cooking, guest chefs and live music to the Dimitrie Gusti National Village Museum.
The festival takes place in the museum’s Satul Nou area, where traditional houses provide the setting for a weekend of contemporary cuisine and regional flavours. The line-up brings together 36 restaurants, drink brands and culinary concepts, including two Michelin-starred restaurants.
Festival tickets include access to the museum and a set number of dishes, letting visitors pair food with a visit to one of Bucharest’s best-known cultural attractions.
Transylvanian Traditions and Contemporary Cooking
The festival explores how regional ingredients and inherited recipes translate into contemporary restaurant cooking. Alongside tastings, visitors can watch chefs at work, join practical workshops and discover different interpretations of Transylvania’s culinary heritage.
For travellers familiar with traditional Romanian dishes, the event offers a chance to explore the regional influences behind them and meet the chefs giving those traditions a new expression.
Cooking Demonstrations and Workshops
Friday’s cooking programme includes Mihai Toader, Răzvan Berinde, Alex Burcă, Oana Coantă and Alex Petricean, with demonstrations running from 15:00 to 19:00.
Saturday features Kaszás Kornél at 15:00, Radu Dumitrescu and Mircea Groza at 16:00, a conversation with Adi Hădean at 17:00, and Simone Cantafio at 18:00.
On Sunday, Bogdan Oancea, Andrei Luminea and Mugur Rusnac take part from 14:00 to 16:00.
Taste Academy workshops cover coffee tasting, gomboți, pasta-making, urdă cheese and regional specialities. Workshops carry no additional participation charge but require registration, alongside festival admission.
Sunday Brunch and Special Dining Experiences

The Sunday Brunch begins at 11:00 on 18 October, before general festival admission opens. It includes an unlimited buffet and music from Floare de Maidan.
Separate Blind Culinary Experience tickets offer a Friday dinner or Sunday lunch, each featuring six surprise dishes and a welcome drink. These experiences include festival and museum admission for the corresponding day.
