Tineretului Park

Tineretului Park is the perfect place for biking because it is dedicated to youth. Locals love this place because it reminds them of their childhood. Here, you can hang out, eat a mouthwatering homemade meal, or relax. Divided into two parts, the central section (closest to Tineretului metro) offers a few rides for kids, trampolines and dodgems, playgrounds, and plenty of tree-lined avenues great for strolling.

Up by Sala Polivalenta, you will also find the entrance to Oraselul Copiilor, a giant funfair complete with big wheels and other rides, some of which are really rather scary and for over-18s only. Most of the rides cost 5 or 10 lei. It was recently renovated and is a good choice for families with kids.

Tineretului Park is the perfect place to meet your old friend, your childhood. From kids to young adults or even older adults, this park is the location where all the Bucharest generations meet to enjoy a piece of nature, a walk in the sunshine, or have fun in the most colorful and playful part of the park, called Oraselul Copiilor (Children's Town).

Tineretului District is an excellent and clean neighborhood that residents look for when buying or renting a house. It has many green areas, and the park in the middle is suitable. Tineretului Park, or, in Romanian, Parcul Tineretului, literally means the Park of the Youth.

The Children's Town (Orășelul Copiilor), which features carousels and many other places expressly built for children and others, as well as restaurants, patios, and a discotheque, is the primary attraction of the Tineretului Park.

Tineretului Park is located in Sector 4 of Bucharest, just a short distance from Piata Unirii, the city centre, and covers an area of around 200 acres, making it the city's largest park. Dimitrie Cantemir Boulevard connects Unirii Square to the rest of the town.

The best part of Tineretului Park is probably the southern side, known as Parcul Vacaresti or Parcul Copiilor, on the corner of B-dul Tineretului and Calea Vacaresti.

Restaurants in Tineretului Park

Restaurants and terraces are located on the side and inside the park. Still, the most famous is the Actors' Café, situated on the lakeshore and attended by both tourists and Bucharest residents.

Other activities when you are in Tineretului Park

There is also the National Children's Palace, Stela Popescu Theater, and the Polyvalent Hall, which hosts a variety of performances and sporting activities.

There is also a lake with a pier where you may rent boats. You can relax on the lake in the Youth Park. The park is accessible through the "Tineretului" metro station or Constantin Brancoveanu.

Tineretului Park - short history

Few people know that the oasis of greenery that you see in these pictures was called the "Valley of Lamentation". A century ago, the valley was attended by garbage collectors, henchmen and homeless people. Here was one of the landfills of Bucharest a hundred years ago, with about 1 km of garbage.

The place changed in 1933 when authorities decided something unseen: They smoothed down the garbage heap, left the winter to do their job and set three slopes: Two for ski and one for sledging.

The Valley of Lamentation continued to collect garbage until 1965, when the area began to be set up as a park. The park was finished in 1974, and architect Valentin Donose designed it.

The Park of Youth attracts millions of tourists annually, and it never disappoints. Its beauty of colours refreshes as time goes by. After all, it is not called the Park of Youth for no reason.

You can easily reach other attractions and tourist objectives from the Park of Youth, such as Bellu Cemetery, Carol Park, The Nation's Heroes Memorial, Palace of the Patriarchate, unmissable places for any tourist in the Romanian capital.
