EUROPAfest: Jazz at the Palace comes to Bucharest in July. If you are in Bucharest on July 7, we invite you to start your weekend with an exceptional jazz concert, the EUROPAfest 30 Opening Gala Concert. The well-known music festival opens its anniversary edition with Jazz at the Palace.
In a jam session, artists from Italy, Spain, France, Israel, and Romania will offer jazz standards, original compositions, and first-time creations. And if you are wondering what it would be like to listen to jazz in the same hall where music performances took place during the reign of King Carol II, then come to the Auditorium Hall of the Royal Palace. It is located at the corner of Calea Victoriei and Știrbei Vodă, step on the red carpet alongside ambassadors and other invited personalities and take your seat in the hall.
The festival will continue with themed concerts featuring artists from over 20 countries:
July 8 – Italian Jazz Night
July 9 – It’s Jazz Time
July 11 – Spanish Jazz Night
July 12 – Summertime Jazz
July 13 – Jazz a Perfect Day
July 14 – Best of Jazz
July 15 – EUROPAfest Gala.
I always feel excited when I realize that we are about to start a new edition of EUROPAfest, and this year, even more so because we celebrate 30 years in an iconic, distinctive building that resonates in the hearts of Romanians, surrounded by other architectural gems such as the Romanian Athenaeum or the Kretzulescu Church. This edition is dedicated primarily to jazz, which you can instantly fall in love with at the first note of a saxophone, or on the contrary, you may need time to learn how to savor it. We may not have DJs, but we boast about the saxophone, the guitar, the double bass, the drums, the vocals, or the piano. Even though it may seem that a jazz festival is not the first on one’s list of summer events, tickets and subscriptions are selling out quickly this year. This shows me that once you have discovered us, you cannot give up on returning year after year. At the same time, I must applaud the evolution of the audience, who have become more educated and learned to appreciate live music’s value. Today we can proudly say that we also have a select jazz audience in Romania. We have succeeded; the people of Bucharest have understood that EUROPAfest is a premium event dedicated to everyone, not just the elites. Come, dear friend, and listen to jazz on Calea Victoriei!
Luigi Gageos – festival director
