George Enescu Festival Competition prepares to receive international artists and impress Bucharest with classical musical notes. The 18th edition of the Competition will start at the Romanian Athenaeum on September 4, 2022, with great performances and exceptional artists.
Classical music lovers can purchase tickets for the 18th edition of the George Enescu International Competition events through the Eventim platform or directly from the Eventim site.
Two ticket categories will be sold, priced between 90 and 130 RON (18 and 26 EUR). The purchase of two types of subscriptions for the concerts and recitals held during the Competition will also be possible.
Over 100 young musicians applied for the 18th edition and participated in the Online Stage of the Competition. For the first time in the history of the Competition, the competitors selected in the first phase by the members of the specialized juries entered directly into the Semifinals. Thus, 34 talented young people will take the stage of the Romanian Athenaeum.
The total value of the prizes is 120,000 EURO, as well as the international promotion and artistic launch of the most talented competitors. Winning first place at the Enescu 2022 Competition is the entrance ticket on the George Enescu International Festival stage at the 2023 edition. Thus, the most talented contestants will be able to perform in the next edition of the Festiva alongside some of the world’s greatest orchestras.
Between competition sections, there will be five extraordinary recitals given by members of the juries and outstanding musicians.

George Enescu International Competition functions as an international launching platform for future world-renowned musicians and promotes the compositions of the great Romanian musician among the new generation of artists from around the world and is a natural complement to the George Enescu International Festival, the most important cultural event organized in Romania. The competition has four sections – violin, cello, piano, and composition – and ranks top five worldwide in classical music competitions.
