Lights over Balkans: February 16 – March 3, 2024, Museum of National Peasant

Lights Over the Balkans is a multidisciplinary exhibition at The National Museum of the Romanian Peasant.

The National Museum of Romanian Literature, in partnership with the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant, the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Bucharest, the Association of Turkish Business People, the Romanian-Turkish Association „Art without borders” and the ISTSANAT Association, organizes, at the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant between February 16 and March 3, 2024, the multidisciplinary exhibition Lights over the Balkans.

The exhibition, a continuation of the events dedicated to the celebration of the Centennial of the Republic of Türkiye and the 146 years of Turkish-Romanian diplomatic relations, presents the works of 20 contemporary artists from Turkey and Romania (12 Turkish artists and 8 Romanian artists), in an eclectic format, which includes various styles, ways of expression and techniques (drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, glass, photography, collage, video).

From themes that capture the soul of Istanbul to ethnographic, symbolic, figurative, and abstract themes, the exhibition reveals to the viewer the richness and cultural diversity of the two countries and the common elements that define the Balkan space.

Artists to exhibit: Akin Ekici – painting; Armagan Ulusoy – ceramics; Ayhan Tomak – wood sculpture; Sureyya Acar – ceramics; Raif Aydin – miniature; Yildiz Ibram – ceramics; Hakan Keleș – illustration; Utku Yonarsoy – photography; Hakan Alacali – graphic design; Ali Yigit Gumuș – digital art; Sema Ozevin – Video Art; Ileana Oancea – sculpture; Maxim Dumitras – collage/painting; Ioan Nemțoi – glass; Lucian Muntean – painting; Cătălin Oancea – sculpture; Mircia Dumitrescu – graphics/sculpture; Florin Codre – sculpture; Maria Cioata – ceramics; Vlad Ciobanu – sculpture.

The exhibition can be visited in New Gallery Hall – Sala Noua Galerie, from February 16 to March 3, 2024, from Wednesday to Sunday, between 10.00 and 18.00. The museum is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
