Step back in time on Calea Victoriei, one of Bucharest’s most beautiful and historic boulevards, where the streets often come alive with a stunning exhibition of vintage automobiles. The Retro Cars Exhibition brings a unique blend of history and style to the heart of the city, showcasing classic vehicles from the 1920s through the 1990s.
Organised by Retromobil Club Romania, the exhibition features a diverse assortment of historic cars, including civilian models, ambulances, fire trucks, and military vehicles. Each car tells its own story, reflecting the heritage and craftsmanship of past decades, and offering a fascinating glimpse into Romania’s automotive legacy.
Retro Cars Expo Bucharest: When and Where

The exhibition usually takes place on the pedestrian-friendly stretches of Calea Victoriei during special cultural weekends and city festivals. Visitors are welcome to enjoy the open-air display free of charge, making it an ideal activity for families, car enthusiasts, and photographers alike.
The retro cars exhibition coincides with the start of the 27th Memorial Giurgiu Rally, which will take place on Saturday, September 27, 2025, in front of the Royal Palace on Calea Victoriei. Starting at 10:15 AM, 70 teams with historic cars will set off on a 130 km journey to Giurgiu, re-enacting one of Romania’s first car races from 1904.
The rally honours the pioneering spirit of Romanian motoring and includes vehicles manufactured from the 1920s to the 1990s. Spectators are welcome to witness the ceremonial start and the impressive lineup of vintage vehicles before they embark on their nostalgic drive.
The Royal Palace of Bucharest is located at 49–53 Calea Victoriei, Sector 1. Yes, it is the building that currently houses the National Museum of Art of Romania. The palace served as the official residence for the Romanian kings until 1947 and has since been repurposed for cultural and museum use. This majestic neoclassical building, situated on Revolution Square (previously Palace Square), is a key landmark on the famous Calea Victoriei boulevard in central Bucharest.
