Prepare for an unforgettable evening with one of Italy’s most beloved pop groups, Ricchi e Poveri, as they bring their “Greatest Hits Live” show to Sala Palatului in Bucharest on Monday, November 17, 2025.
Doors open at 19:00, and the concert begins at 19:30, promising an elegant, nostalgia-filled musical journey.
The Story of Ricchi e Poveri
Formed in Genoa, Italy, in 1967 as a vocal quartet consisting of Franco Gatti (bass), Angela Brambati (soprano), Angelo Sotgiu (tenor), and Marina Occhiena (alto), Ricchi e Poveri became icons of Italian pop music through rich vocal harmonies and standout melodies. Their name, suggested by producer Franco Califano, came from the phrase “rich in spirit and poor in money”.
Their first public appearance was at Cantagiro 1968 with “L’ultimo amore”, a cover of “Everlasting Love”. They later found success at the Sanremo Music Festival, placing second in both 1970 (“La prima cosa bella”) and 1971 (“Che sarà”, performed with José Feliciano), and returning to win in 1985 with “Se m’innamoro”. The group represented Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 1978 with the song “Questo amore”, finishing in 12th place.
Through the 1970s and ’80s, hits like “Mamma Maria” (1982), “Sarà perché ti amo” (1981), “Che sarà,” “Se m’innamoro”, and “Voulez vous danser” solidified their international status. Sarà perché ti amo remained at the top of Italian charts for nine weeks and became one of the best-selling Italian singles ever, with countless covers across Europe and Latin America. The group’s overall album sales exceed 20‑22 million copies, making them one of Italy’s best-selling acts, second only to Pooh.
Though Marina Occhiena departed in 1981 and Franco Gatti retired in 2022, the original quartet reunited in 2020, reviving the classic formation and continuing to perform together internationally.
