West Side Hallo Fest, the biggest Halloween festival in Romania, is on Morii Lake between October 27-29.
West Side Hallo Fest runs for three days, with rock concerts, children’s workshops, mystery trails and a costume contest.
The biggest Halloween festival in Romania will be organized by the City Hall of Sector 6, on the island of Morii Lake and the equipped jetty. The event will occur between October 27-29, and entry will be free.
The event follows the success of the West Side Flowers Fest, which occurred this Spring.
Around 42,100 square meters will be transformed into a fairytale land. For three days, the Lacul Morii – Mill Lake area, in Sector 6 of the Capital, will be where the first edition of the West Side Hallo Fest will take place. The island, the pier, and part of its base will be decorated in the Halloween theme. No less than 15.5 tons of pumpkins will be prepared for decoration, and the carving and painting workshops will be organized for the little ones. The works will be able to be admired by visitors in a large exhibition.
Also, some of them will become lanterns that will illuminate a portion of the lake.
Lacul Morii – Mill Lake pier will be decorated for Halloween during West Side Hallo Fest
Visitors will enter the Halloween atmosphere from the Crângași Park area. At the base of the pier, a sales area will be filled with carved and painted flowers, plants and pumpkins. On the pier, they will be greeted by living statues costumed in the theme and be able to admire various artistic moments.
Along the entire portion of the landscaped promenade, which measures 10,000 square meters, they will pass under giant arches, each five meters high, decorated by the Sector 6 City Hall landscapers. Those who want to ride the little train will be picked up from Mehadia and taken to the island, where it will be the center of the fun.
There, on an area of 32,100 square meters, approximately 30 arcades will be set up, a labyrinth with mysterious paths made of 1,000 straw bales, mask-making workshops, the candy house, and areas for organizing thematic games for children, paintings in front, relaxation areas.
The famous florist Nicu Bocancea and the teachers and students from the „Ion Mincu” University of Architecture and Urbanism will decorate the island.
West Side Hallo Fest: three days of concerts on the island of Morii Lake
Artistic moments will take place here, as well as rock concerts. During the three days of the festival, Cargo, The Rock – the most prominent Romanian AC/DC tribute band, Iuliana Beregoi and Dora Gaitanovici will take the stage. Those from the Romanian Beauty Industry Entrepreneurs’ Association will prepare a parade of costumes, make-up and hairstyles.

It couldn’t be more appropriate! This year, right on Halloween, we have a lunar eclipse. It happens once every 500 years that this phenomenon falls on the last weekend in October. And we’ll get it right with telescopes that are free to the public, astronomy workshops and on-stage explanations from experts. But the surprises don’t stop there.
The stars will align for us on the weekend of October 27-29, when the biggest Halloween festival in Romania, on Lacul Morii, takes place. Precisely, on Saturday night, the Sun, Earth, and Moon will be aligned precisely enough that the Moon partially enters Earth’s shadow. The cosmic event starts at 21.02, and the maximum of the eclipse will be reached at 23.14. Starting at 22:00, the bottom of the Moon turns red.
Partial Red Moon Eclipse Observation on Saturday evening
A Science and Technology team will be present on the island of Lacul Morii during the three days of West Side Hallo Fest. They will support robotics, astronomy, 3D drawing, gaming, VR, biology, graphics, animation, and soap bubbles workshops.
On Saturday, when the eclipse takes place, they will come with four professional telescopes, which people have free access to. One of the telescopes will be connected to the giant screen on the stage so that all the participants can see the spectacular eclipse live. Alexandru Mironov (director of Science&Tech magazine), Cătălin Beldea (nicknamed the „eclipse hunter”) and Marian Naiman (honorary president of the Bucharest Astroclub) come with explanations and present the eclipse live from the stage.
The 2,500 Leaf Dress Inspired by the ‘November Rain’ Video
The surprises don’t stop here. At the West Side Hallo Fest, you can admire a dress inspired by the famous song „November Rain.” It is made of 2,500 leaves, assembled and glued these days by 30 seniors, members of the Sector 6 Seniors Club. The unique item of clothing will complete the scenery on Morii Lake, with autumn flowers, the giant arches 5 meters high each, the mysterious paths of 1,000 straw bales, and 15.5 tons of painted or carved pumpkins. There will be concerts, workshops for all ages, living statues, exhibitors with themed products and good food.
The fun starts on Friday at 12:00 and Saturday and Sunday at 10:00. Access is free.

There will be 50 merchants on the island, who will come with all kinds of made-up items, plus another 20 with goodies and many pumpkin dishes.
And this time, the seniors, supported by DGASPC Sector 6, will make a sensational dress made of autumn leaves. It will be a dress reinterpreted after the one that appears in the famous video „November Rain” by the American band Guns N’ Roses.
About 40,000 visitors are expected at the West Side Hallo Fest. The „access ticket” will be the costume. On the first day of the festival, the program will start at 12:00, and on Saturday and Sunday, from 10:00. The fun will last until the evening, at 10 p.m.
